What is Arts Psychotherapy?

In Greek mythology, Psyche refers to the Greek nymph who was the personification of the human soul. Psyche is then defined as, β€œthe mind…considered as an organic system reaching all parts of the body”.

Therapy is derived from the Greek verb β€˜therapeuein’, which means to attend, guide, or serve.

So, we then are able to define Psychotherapy as the act of attending, guiding and serving the entire self.

When we pair Psychotherapy with creative modalities, it provides us the tools and avenues to go beyond what words can convey and draw upon our unconscious mind. The gift of Art Therapy is the safety it provides for one to face the confronting parts of therapy, and the ability it has to support the integrity of our mind/body experience.

  • Spend a nourishing afternoon in Mullumbimby, held in a quaint art studio in the heart of town. This is an invitation to gather with like-minded women, reconnect with your creative self, and gently explore your inner world through art.

Edie will guide the group through an immersive Art Therapy experience, offering gentle prompts that support self-inquiry around themes of nervous system care, creative emergence, and sensory awareness. Together, we will engage in a series of intentional practices, including a sensory ritual with Social Alchemy hot chocolate, a guided visualisation, and grounding techniques designed to support and regulate the nervous system.
